Don't be put off by cigarette-sized e-cigs

I felt compelled to write this post after noticing a huge amount of people are suffering from one common problem.

Their first e-cigarette experience is usually terrible.

Let me say that again.

Their first e-cigarette experience is usually terrible.

Just like me, many people's first adventure into the world of electronic cigarettes starts with a cigarette sized e-cig which looks remarkably similar to the one below:

Yes, they are designed to look exactly like a real cigarette, as to draw new converts in. Offers made by many sites offering these sort of e-cigs promote nonsense like "1 cartridge is equivalent to 30 cigarettes and lasts for hours on 1 charge!!!"

After getting excited and ordering one, the budding e-cig smoker is let down within hours of opening the box, and thus decides electronic cigarettes are completely worthless, and what's more, a certain scam.

Well, I'm here to tell you that if you've had a bad experience with one of these e-cigarettes, don't give up just yet.

Just like you, a couple of months ago I ordered my first e-cig. It was a SkyCig, and as you can see in my last blog post, it was absolutely horrendous. The cartridge didn't last anywhere near the time stated, the battery barely switched on and it was dead, and I was left feeling like I'd been completely duped and scammed. I suspect this would be the same for brands such as e-lites and so on

Now, it's understandable that many of you would have started with these, and while many will be unhappy, I'm sure there are some satisfied users out there. Don't get me wrong - I love the idea of smoking without the smell and the chemicals, and the cigarette-size certainly helps to draw you in and get you interested. Indeed, if you're a very light or social smoker, these are probably perfect.

What I don't like is the false advertising, the tiny battery life, the lies about the length of the cartridges that you smoke, and the ridiculously high price.

So, what did I do? Some more research.

Eventually I came across forums with people posting in them discussing how unhappy they were with the cigarette-sized batteries. More experienced e-cig users recommended upgrading to a bigger battery, so I looked around and settled on this nice and fairly inexpensive kit, the Riva 1100.

As you can see in this fantastic photo taken on my desk, this is what the kit originally came with. The wire is the USB charged, and the two cigar sized batteries are the batteries.

I won't turn this into a Riva 1100 review (I'll save that for another post), but it's been 2 months since I bought it and it's fantastic. It can go a whole day of heavy use on a single charge, and the vapour it produces is lovely. I've tried a huge variety of different flavored juices with it - some nice, some disgusting - but the kit itself is excellent. I'm not limited to buying from one overpriced vendor, it fits a variety of different attachments on it, and for a beginner e-cig smoker concerned about their health and wanting to save money in the long run, I thoroughly recommend it.

In conclusion, if you've been let down by cigarette sized batteries and overpriced sellers, do some research and find yourself a nice cigar sized battery. Anything above 900mah will last you about a day of almost constant smoking (or 'vaping' as it is referred to), and you're unlikely to run into many problems. Don't give up on a real cigarette free life, and enjoy the many benefits that come with switching to real, decent e-cigarettes.

Yeah, battery is the main thing we it comes to electronic cigarette, I had to replace mine for the same issue.

If you are planning to get a new electronic cigarette you should order the starter kit just to check the quality of the brand, believe me it really helps.
