Alice in Vapeland Twas Brillig, Bandersnatch, & Black & White Cookie - An honest review
To say I was excited about receiving my samplers of Alice in Vapeland's juices from switch2-ecigs is a bit of an understatement. After reading many reviews on the internet, I was hyped.
Now I'm not tasting expert. Many e-juice reviewers seem to see themselves as expert wine tasters, and write comprehensive reviews accordingly. I'm going to stick with the way I know how - I load the juice into my clearomizer, taste it, and then let it steep (rest) for a few days and taste it again. I'll then tell you what I think. There's nothing complicated - after all, it's just flavourings and a few standard chemicals, not years of growing the right plant and tenderly looking after it in a suitable climate (like wine tasting etc).
So, first up was Twas Brillig. Warm blackberry crumble was what it was meant to taste like... did it?
I guess in a sense it does. Not sure about the warm, but it's definitely fruity. It's by far my favourite, but I think it becomes quite sickly after a relatively short amount of time. I have yet to taste the crumble, and although the smell is nice, it does taste fairly different. Overall I'd give it a 3 out of 5 - it's okay, but nothing to write home about (or should that be write a blog about?). Kind of disappointing. At the price of almost £5 per 6ml (not sold in a bigger quantity here in the UK), it's also quite expensive too.
The next e-juice I tried was Bandersnatch. I'd been really looking forward to this one - butterscotch and banana, I love them. However, I failed to get barely any taste out of it. Just to be clear I used a Vision Clearomizer, and a BOSS clearomizer... both were the same. Barely any taste. Once or twice I thought I caught a hint of butterscotch, but other than that it was, well, nothing really. 1/5 - kind of a waste of money.
Last up was black and white cookie. I've been searching for a real chocolate tasting e-juice for ages, and yet again I'm let down. The chocolate is definitely there, but the whole thing just seems too thick for me. 1/5, and I won't be ordering anymore.
My conclusion is that I don't get on well with darker, heavier, thicker liquids, which these mostly were. So, my next order will be for some lighter juices, more fruity, candy, mentholy types.
I'd also like to round this off by saying I don't condemn these juices at all AiV has a great reputation, but for me the juices were very mediocre. As I've said before though, don't let me put you off of trying them!
